As reported by The Fabricator in their article “How Stamping Manufacturers Retrofit Presses with Linear Servo Technology,” manufacturers seeking up to 500 tons of force, especially in high-temperature applications like automotive hot stamping and aerospace titanium forming, are turning to linear servo retrofits. This technology eliminates common risks associated with hydraulic systems, such as fires, oil leaks, and overheating, while significantly improving performance and reliability.
One major advantage of linear servo actuators is their ability to deliver full tonnage at any point in the stroke, unlike traditional presses that rely on rated tonnage points. This allows for better control over position, pressure, and speed, reducing the need to derate tonnage on long draws and strokes.
