How to Improve Accuracy in In-Die Forming

As shared by The Fabricator in their expert column “Ask the Stamping Expert: What designs are available for in-die forming?”, there are several innovative designs available to improve accuracy, speed, and flexibility in in-die forming applications.

The article breaks down three key in-die forming methods, each designed to optimize the press-forming process in different ways:

Pivot Die Cam Adjuster
Ready Bender
Cam Slide Form Adjustment

This method is used for post-bend fine-tuning—typically after a 90-degree bend where springback is an issue. A cam punch is mounted with an adjustable wedge and shim to ensure precision. It’s engineered to allow micro-adjustments (as little as 0.010 inches) and can run at high speeds—up to 800 strokes per minute—while keeping the part consistent and accurate.
